How disease spreads in OSR

To maximise the benefits of fungicides on your OSR crops this autumn, it's important you understand the risks to your crop. Phoma and light leaf spot (LLS) ascospores are released from infected pods and stems during harvest. As the plant emerges - the young leaves are susceptible to infection from Phoma and LLS. Infection can occur with a s little as 6 hours of leaf wetness at 12-20°CNew leaves can become infected by LLS ascospores - maturation is seen after 14 days at 15°C or 28 days at 5°CA Phoma spray may be needed if thresholds are reached. A Phoma treatment with LLS activity will help provide LLS control. New leaves can become infected by LLS ascospores. Conidia are produced, that with rain splash, infect adjacent plants. An application of Proline 275 wills top disease developing further, protecting the plant through winter.
