How disease spreads in OSR
To maximise the benefits of fungicides on your OSR crops this autumn, it's important you understand the risks to your crop. Phoma and light leaf spot (LLS) ascospores are released from infected pods and stems during harvest. As the plant emerges - the young leaves are susceptible to infection from Phoma and LLS. Infection can occur with a s little as 6 hours of leaf wetness at 12-20°CNew leaves can become infected by LLS ascospores - maturation is seen after 14 days at 15°C or 28 days at 5°CA Phoma spray may be needed if thresholds are reached. A Phoma treatment with LLS activity will help provide LLS control. New leaves can become infected by LLS ascospores. Conidia are produced, that with rain splash, infect adjacent plants. An application of Proline 275 wills top disease developing further, protecting the plant through winter.
Early 1st fungicide spray of Proline 275 will be vital for the control of Phoma and light leaf spot this autumn. Proline 275 is the only field-proven product available that controls both Phoma and light leaf spot (LLS) – so all you have to do to get your OSR fungicide programme off to the best possible start is to simply spray Proline 275 as your 1st fungicide. Getting on top of Phoma and LLS early is critical for avoiding damaging crop losses and making sure you aren’t chasing disease in the spring.
Treat Phoma with 0.32 L/ha Proline 275 when the 10-20% plants affected threshold is reached.
If the Phoma threshold isn’t reached, then look to apply 0.46 L/ha Proline 275 by mid-November for LLS control.
Trials have shown that using Proline 275 to achieve good control of Phoma and LLS in the autumn can result in an increase in final yields.
Choosing a product that has activity against both diseases is vital to provide the extra protection the plant needs to produce higher yields.
Phoma and LLS cause the greatest yield loss to UK OSR crops according to the DEFRA OSR disease survey.
Maximise your returns from your OSR crops this season. Proline 275 offers the best choice for OSR growers with its excellent control of both Phoma and LLS. Proline 275 delivers the best margin over input cost on the market.
Proline 275 delivers a yield increase worth £96 /ha** Proline 275 on average costs growers less per hectare than Refinzar.***

How well do you know your oilseed rape diseases? Can you tell your powerdy mildew from your Phoma leaf spot? Can you spot botrytis grey mould a mile off?
It’s hard keeping track of all the different diseases that could be affecting your crops. It’s important to spot these threats early, to determine the best control strategy, so you can tackle the problem before it spreads. But, it’s not always easy to identify the problem straight away – that’s why we’ve created this quiz to help you test your knowledge and stay clued up on the issues your crops may face.
The Bayer Agronomy Tool app makes it easy to identify diseases (as well as weeds and pests) whether you’re in the field or the farm office. You’ll find high-definition photos with guidelines on identification and symptoms, all optimised for your mobile device.
