Importance

Found in spring cereals and widespread everywhere.

1. Cotyledons are shiny, dark green and triangular in shape.

2. True leaves are glossy, triangular, with dark spots on the underside. Leaves are also hairless and stalkless, arising in pairs.

3. A prostrate annual of straggling growth. Flowering stems bear small bright red flowers.
